These are longevity peach buns. They are the shape of a peach, filled with lotus paste, coloured a bright festive pink and steamed. Traditionally, these buns are eaten at birthday celebrations by the elderly. In Chinese culture, The Peach is a symbol of long life.DSC07828IMG_2295IMG_1124DSC07815

Wasn’t this place a Country Style Donuts before the Galaxy as well? I seem to recall that the ceilings were REALLY yellow from all the smoking back in the day.

Hmm. I don’t remember that far back LOL. It could be from kitchen grease!

I really seem to recall thinking that they should’ve put a lighthouse in there near the register so it was easier to find your way there through everyone’s smoke. This was waaaaaaaay back though.
